Distinction between RESI GROUP and RESIMARMO

RESIMARMO® is our brand ! It represents today, in the subconscious of our customers, the assurance of quality and tranquility. RESI GROUP is the name of the group that includes the companies RESIMARMO France, RESIMARMO Italia and DECOPIERRE Italia.


The company DECOPIERRE Italia is created on the initiative of Mickaël Bertolaso, professional in « stone look » decoration. He joins forces with his brother Romuald Bertolaso, an outstanding salesman in the construction sector. Together they offer a wide range of patterns and colors to create modern wall coverings. They create RESIPIETRA® wall coverings in Italy.

Creation of the company RESIMARMO Italia.

The market demands have pushed the Bertolaso brothers to study innovative solutions. In particular, this led them to develop new products, the RESIMARMO® marble aggregate floor covering. The aim was to meet a growing demand for decorative solutions for horizontal surfaces. Surfaces such as terraces, relaxation areas, swimming pool decks, solariums, garden paths, parking lots, etc., and above all in the same tones and colors as the materials proposed in their RESIPIETRA® wall coverings. They offered their RESIMARMO® marble aggregates in Italy, France and progressively in all Europe.


Creation of the company RESIMARMO France.


Following a logic of constant development, they set up a network of partners « RESIMARMO® Distributors » and a network of partners « RESIMARMO® Applicators ». They gathered the best Italian and French companies in the sector and offered them training. In 2017 more than 550 distributors and applicators had participated in the training course at the DECOPIERRE Italia premises.


The group RESI GROUP is created. It encompasses the three companies.

Our European partners: France’s trade remains very European, even home-grown! Thus, it carries out almost half of the trade flows with European countries, which are mainly bordering. In the third quarter of 2017, the dynamism of exports to the European Union was confirmed (+2.2%, after +1.8%), particularly to Germany, Italy and the new Member States. RESIMARMO® achieves similar results in percentage terms. The « Brexit » was not without consequences for the group. The Italian management has decided to freeze the new sites in the United Kingdom until the English economic conditions for trade are better defined.

The top 10 partners, which represent two-thirds of our trade, remain mainly European and developed but now include two major emerging countries, China and Russia.

  • 7 of RESIMARMO®‘s 10 main trading partners are European, reflecting the region’s still dominant position in our exports, which account for nearly two-thirds of our exports.
  • 6 of these countries belong to the European Union,
  • 5 to the euro area
  • and all of them are the immediate neighbours of France and Italy.
  • The United States currently occupies only 6th place.
  • In total, 8 of our top 10 partners are advanced economies.

This is due to a number of factors. One of them is the empirically observed link in international trade between trade intensity on the one hand and geographical proximity and size of economies on the other hand (so-called « gravity » phenomenon).

The European Union as a whole remains our main trading partner, representing nearly 75% of our exports.

Executive Summary

Let us summarise this from a macroeconomic point of view, in Europe the fall in the costs of our businesses and the increase in productivity have positive effects in terms of household and business incomes on the one hand and in terms of selling prices on the other. There is therefore an increase in both internal and external demand due to greater price competitiveness vis-à-vis the rest of the world. Consequently, the response to this rising demand is an increase in production: there is therefore economic growth that favours the improvement of the well-being of the population (increase in income, employment, etc.).

Secondly, the European Commission has always maintained that the organisation of « free competition » and « undistorted » is an exclusively European prerogative and that states cannot set their own competition rules. Three sets of arguments justify this.

  • A common competition policy is first of all necessary in order to prevent the member countries from waging economic war on each other through official or disguised subsidies that would benefit certain domestic producers. This would be very costly for the States’ budget, and ultimately inefficient, since all States would be obliged to provide at least the same amount of subsidy as the neighbouring country to enable its domestic producers to survive. To avoid this, the European Commission has special powers: it sanctions the payment of undue government aid. It also specifies the exceptional conditions under which support for firms in difficulty may be acceptable. For example, the European Commission has accepted that the French State should pay aid of almost FRF 4 billion to Crédit Lyonnais in 1997, on the express condition that the bank reduce the number of branches by 20% and sell all its European subsidiaries. The aid was to be used only to save this heavily indebted bank and Crédit Lyonnais could not therefore use the subsidy to develop, quite the contrary.


  • Similarly, it is important to avoid the creation of giant companies with exorbitant market power by exploiting the economies of scale allowed by the single market. The creation of such monopolies calls into question the very existence of consumer-friendly competition. A monopoly firm has a « market power » that allows it to offer lower quality goods and services, or to charge higher prices than in a situation of perfect competition. To avoid this, the European Union, through the Commission, controls mergers and acquisitions between companies, for example by authorising their merger subject to conditions (Air France and KLM have had to reduce their flight offers for certain routes) and prohibits cartels or cartels by producers. Abuses of dominance are also combated. For example, the Commission heavily condemned Microsoft for using its leading position on operating systems (with XP, Vista or Seven) to impose associated software such as Mediaplayer or Windows Messenger.


  • Similarly, norms (of all kinds) are increasingly being decided at European level: these rules or designations are a means of standardizing the production standards of goods and services produced in Europe. Consumers therefore know that the products they buy in the EU are equivalent. Thus, in the food sector, there are virtually no national standards: for example, the designation « chocolate », previously regulated differently in France than in other EU countries, now depends on European law. A whole set of European regulations has therefore been developed that frame the national regulations and impose themselves on them.

10 Tips for Successful Fairs

1 – We always try to pass on our passion, our knowledge to customers. Someone who knows how to sell is a passionate person. Moreover, it is courteous, attentive and gives its customers an exceptional service.

2 – We are pleased to inform and talk about the products we sell. We could bring back customers thanks to our kindness and availability. We want to make this maxim « Customer of a day, customer forever »!

3 – We all need to fill in an address book! The customer who just comes to have information or to speak with us, can be a customer of tomorrow. We do not neglect anyone on our stand!

4 – Before the fair you have to make preparations. Make a list, a silly thought to not forget anything while preparing our stand. A day is never expected as expected, always anticipate!

5 – It is important to have slept well, it avoids bad looks, stress, fatigue. Because it is necessary to remain organized and conscientious throughout the fair or the fair to not miss sales!

6 – Do not forget to obtain all official documents and have them on us on D-Day: insurance certificate, KBIS extract, certificates of our products / labels etc. It may take several weeks to get them. Never go at the last minute!

7 – Even if we start to have a good experience, we remain informed, we draw inspiration from the other salons and our colleagues. Therefore we discuss in particular with the « elders », those who know and are used to make fairs and exhibitions from year to year.

8 – To be creative on its stand, to attract the eye while remaining professional – it is imperative to stand out from the competition. Also thanks to an attractive stand or an unusual animation, we remain in the heads of customers.

9 – There are days when everything works and others do not. When this happens we look for our mistake and try to find another strategy to better attract customers and therefore sell better!

We rely heavily on their know-how because they implement our coating, a real marble carpet. The applicators make a good living and feel good about the structure of the RESIMARMO® network.

Your e-commerce

Where are we ? After presenting ourselves, we have to tell you where we are in Italy and then in France, we sell our products through exhibitions, fairs and other regional or national events and exclusively on the Web. You still need to know a few things about us.

For example, we are native of Milan with regard to the company’s headquarters for the activities of:

  • The Administration,
  • Accountability,
  • Commercial management,
  • Telephony,
  • RESIMARMO® retailers, (Retailers and Applicators),

And we are on the outskirts of Milan, for our activities:

  • Techniques,
  • Transport,
  • Preparation of commands,
  • Receipt of goods,
  • Storage etc …

From the beginning, we decided that e-commerce, did not need stores or showcases.
We preferred to invest in quality products at a reasonable price, rather than having stores or it was difficult to know if you, our customers, were going to move to pick up the merchandise in our warehouses. It is that we sell a large distribution product similar to the food, in its electronic distribution. With us, the price is light, but the delivery is much heavier than 100 Kg.
Our products can not be seen until everything is done and finished, the quality and beauty of RESIMARMO® can only be realized at the end of the project.
The choice was not simple and the decision difficult to make. We often talk about this famous night of August 3, 2007, where we said we would not go home until this decision was made once and for all. It must be said that having stores requires significant investments and it was no longer a question of retreating without losing more than 60% of the money of our initial investment. Our sponsors and our families, for half of what we had, had confidence and we could not risk a penny of their euro without being completely sure of us. Hence the long night of discussion or we had to decide what was the best solution for us. In the end we all came back to our respective homes late, but the decision had been made. We were going to become an e-commerce! It was a Friday night, but when we came back, we were on Saturday. I think everyone had a good weekend, to finally know what was going to take shape on our way.

The reseller and applicator network is a service in which we have great hopes. Some of our partners have sometimes betrayed the trust we placed in them. But in spite of everything, we continue to find more and more retailers who have agreed to sign new cooperation agreements that more precisely define the role of each in the RESIMARMO® project.

DECOPIERRE® Italia was founded in 2007 on the initiative of Mickael and Romualdo Bertolaso, seasoned professionals in stone mural decoration based on marble dust agglomerated with lime. They registered the brand name RESIMARMO® and offered their new products throughout Italy. RESIMARMO® Italia was created in 2009 on the initiative of Mickael Bertolaso, now alone in Italy, his brother Romualdo having joined France to prepare the setting up of the structures and staff of the future French subsidiary RESIMARMO® France.

Following a constant development logic, they created a network of partners bringing together the best Italian and French companies in the sector, offering them training and technical assistance in architectural decoration. The company guarantees an equivalent skills assessment for all its employees. By 2017, more than 250 applicators had taken part in the training course offered by RESIMARMO® Italia in all the Italian and French sectors.

These training courses were useful and even indispensable to train the teams of applicators in their techniques for laying RESIMARMO® product. Whether for the vertical walls (with marble dust) or the marble granulate flooring, they wanted to promote this beautiful and precious stone. The marble aggregates mixed with resin, of varying grain sizes and colours, proved to be an innovative product linked to the latest technologies. Quality resin gives a quality floor covering. The precise grammage of the resin in the mixture makes for an efficient coating. They mastered all these techniques and taught them to their collaborators and partners, distributors or applicators.

First, a « Skills Assessment »

The skills assessment is an opportunity to take stock of a candidate’s professional life and analyse his/her skills, aptitudes and motivations. It helps to define a coherent project or validate the training project.
The skills assessment is carried out at RESIMARMO® Italia‘s premises, which guarantees total confidentiality.
The maximum duration of a competency assessment is 24 hours and consists of 3 stages:
First, an individual interview to define the needs and present the conditions of the training course.
Then there is an investigation phase to analyse the candidate’s skills and interests.
Finally, a conclusion with the submission of a summary document, which sets out the project and defines the steps envisaged for its implementation.
The actions are carried out on an individual basis, except in exceptional cases, and the applicant is the sole recipient of the conclusions of the skills assessment. Following this assessment, the actual training can begin. The candidate joins a group in order to follow the courses given. Customers are thus assured of a quality service provided by a « professional«  floor covering, trained in RESIMARMO® laying techniques.
